What type of lighting do you use?
I use a mixture of natural and studio lighting. I also use variations in the color of the lighting to elicit different moods.
Do you shoot black & white or color?
Because I shoot digitally, all shots begin in color. They can easily be converted to black and white in Photoshop.
How will I know what images I want you to retouch?
We will do a quick edit after the shoot is finished. During the edit, you can select the images you would like to be retouched. I will email you the retouched images within 3 business days. If you decide you don’t want any images retouched that day, you can also contact me anytime after the shoot with retouching request. We keep all of your photos on file in case you decide you want retouching at a later date. Just give us the image number of the photo you want retouched and we’ll email it back to you within 3 business days.
How do I decide where to go for an outside shoot?
That is up to you. I have shot at Central Park, random streets and alleys in New York and in Times Square. We can discuss outside locations at the time of your shoot. I can do a shoot outside in the winter, weather permitting. I don’t shoot in rain, sleet or snow.
What is a composite card?
A composite card “comp card” provides a small collection of pictures and basic stats on card stock or rigid paper. A comp card is used by actors, models, dancers and musicians for auditions and self-promotion. A comp card is an important resource in addition to a headshot. It allows you to introduce yourself to industry professionals in a much more diverse way than with a headshot alone. An example of a comp card is provided below.

Where whatever makes you feel good. Take some time to really consider how you want to come across in your photos. What clothing makes you feel comfortable and dynamic? What makes you feel attractive and vibrant? Consider these questions when choosing your wardrobe.
Please note: Please iron or steam your clothes before the shoot. We do not have an iron or steamer at the studio. Also, do not wear clothing that has words or logos on it.
Will you help me pose?
Yes, I will give you posing direction to help you loosen up and connect more with camera.
Can I bring music?
Yes, you can bring whatever CD’s you would like or your iPod. I can also play music from Pandora, which has something for everyone.
Do we need to meet before the shoot?
We don’t need to meet before the shoot. I’ll provide you with all the information you need to prepare you for the shoot via e-mail. If you have any questions or concerns and want to talk beforehand, I’m always happy to discuss questions that arise.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Simply call us at 917-538-7934 or e-mail us at sage.amen@gmail.com to schedule a shoot. A deposit is due when you book your shoot in order to reserve your shoot date and time.
What forms of payment are accepted?
The deposit can only be paid via my website using a credit or debit card or by phone. Go to the Scheduling & Payment page of this website to pay the deposit via my website. The remaining balance can be paid in cash, money order or check on the day of your shoot.
Do you have any discount plans?
Yes, indeed! When you refer a friend who books a shoot with us, we’ll give you a 10% discount. Tell your friend to mention your name when they schedule their appointment or at anytime during their shoot. Refer two friends who book shoots with us and we’ll give you a 15% discount. Refer five friends who book shoots with us and we’ll give you a 30% discount.
Please note: You can apply the 10% & 15% discounts to any package we offer. The 30% discount can only be used with the Recession Special and the Basic Package.
